Daniel Farr



The District Superintendent is the Board appointed executive officer and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of the District’s schools in accordance with Board policies and directives, and state and federal law.

Dr. Daniel Farr officially assumed his new role as Superintendent of Schools in July of 2009.  Prior to this new role he served as the principal at Sidney High School for 11 years.  Dr. Farr, in his capacity as high school principal also served as the District’s director of curriculum and the director of the Migrant Education Program.  Before moving to the “Sunrise City,” Dr. Farr held principal positions at Three Forks Junior/Senior High Schools (1994-1998) and Poplar High School (1989-1994).  Educational beginnings were just up the road with the Culbertson Public School system (1984-1989) where he served as the K-12 school counselor and middle school science teacher. 

Dr. Farr grew up in Billings, Montana where he attended and graduated from Billings West High.  Following high school, Dr. Farr completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Montana State University at Bozeman.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Botany and General Science (1982), a Masters of Education in School Counseling and Secondary School Administration (1987), and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership (2004).  In addition to his formal education experiences, he has participated in extensive professional development in curriculum development, strategic planning, and is trained as a NASSP-Breaking Ranks Trainer.

Since moving to Sidney he has held numerous leadership positions including President of Montana Association of Secondary School Principals (2008), President Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture (2004), and President of Class A Conference Schools (2003).  Throughout his twenty-seven years as an educator and school leader, Dr. Farr has served on numerous boards serving Montana Schools.  At present, he is active in the Sidney Kiwanis Club, Montana Association of School Superintendents (MASS), Montana Quality Education Coalition and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD).

Dr. Farr is married to Lynette (Irigoin) Farr, an alumna of Lambert High School and a kindergarten teacher with the Sidney School System.  Daniel and Lynette have three daughters.  Sara is a graduate of Sidney High School and Carroll College in Helena.  Sara currently teaches in Helena, Montana.  Bridget is also an alumna of Sidney High School.  Bridget graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana and is currently teaching and acting in Austin, Texas.  Ashley, the youngest, is a graduate from Dickinson State University and is currently a nurse at Sidney Health Center.
